First Product with ActiveX Controls Designed for Microsoft Access 2.0

FMS, Inc. is pleased to announce Total Access Components, a new product for Microsoft Access version 2.0, is released to manufacturing and now shipping. Total Access Components is a collection of twenty 16-bit ActiveX/OCX controls to enhance the functionality and appearance of forms and reports, and simplify programming.

Microsoft Access 2.0 was the first Microsoft product to support ActiveX controls (previously called OCX controls). However, most ActiveX controls are created for Visual Basic and do not behave properly within Access. Total Access Components is the first collection of ActiveX controls designed specifically for Microsoft Access 2.0.

Total Access Components includes many controls to significantly enhance forms and reports:

• Tab controls across the top, left, right, or bottom
• Pop-up menus
• Gauges and progress meters
• Slider bars and spin buttons
• Enhanced buttons with graphics, 3D font styles, and multi-state toggles
• Rotated text and text with special effects (shadow, sunken, raised)
• Beveled rectangles with rounded borders
• Bitmap animation effects with fade in/out, stripes, and other transitions
• Digital and analog clocks

There are also several other controls to simplify programming common tasks for Access developers:

• Windows clipboard operations (cut, copy, and paste)
• Windows common dialogs (select files, directories, colors, fonts, etc.)
• Multimedia control to manage and play CDs, WAV files, and MIDI files
• Reading and writing to Windows INI and registry files
• System information (memory usage, CPU type, Windows directories, etc.)

Total Access Components for Access 2.0 is now available directly from FMS and most corporate resellers. A 32-bit version for Access 95/97 will be available in March 1997.

Total Access Components is sold on a per developer basis and includes royalty free distribution rights. It is available in two versions: a single user version and a 5 developer pack.
